Should I use concrete or asphalt when repaving my driveway?
There are some differences between concrete and asphalt, but the choice should be made on primarily aesthetic reasons. Asphalt has the appearance of the continuation of the road. Concrete has a completely different color profile and can also be stamped with designs to increase the elegance of your driveway. While concrete is typically more durable and does not need to be sealed, it does have some problems with grease stains showing. Asphalt can be susceptible to heat and deform in the hot summers so that you no longer have the smooth surface that you started with. Concrete tends to cost around $5 per square foot, while asphalt is a bit cheaper at around $3 per square foot.
